As many of you may know, I am no longer a New Yorker, so please check out my new blog A Library of My Own. If you are just reading Life and Times, you are missing out. Thanks!

Book Finds

From my catch-up post here (Item number six), I mentioned that I bought way too many books lately. Ok, I don't really feel guilty. They were good finds and were bought at two library super cheap too!

Here's the first pile of loot which I found at the library book sale at the 96th Street Branch. I was meeting my aunt and cousin who were in town and staying close to that branch, and since I was early I popped in the library and to my luck found these:
A Tale of Two Cities - Charles Dickens
Oryx and Crake - Margaret Atwood
Garden Spells - Sarah Addison Allen
The Book Thief - Markus Zusak
Run - Ann Patchett
Cat's Eye - Margaret Atwood

Then a few days later I went to the Mid-Manhattan Library branch and found these:
Like Water for Chocolate - Laura Esquivel
One Year Off - David Elliot Cohen
Charming Billy - Alice McDermott
The Code of Love - Andro Linklater
Cold Mountain - Charles Frazier
The Darwin Conspiracy - John Darnton
Redeeming Love - Francine Rivers

And I won a copy of The Geography of Love by Glenda Burgess from Bookfinds. Thank you!
AND this weekend I just got in the mail...from the author...The Best Place to Be: A Novel in Stories by Lesley Dormen. It's even autographed to me!!! I'm so excited. And you'll be seeing this book reviewed a little differently soon but I'll give a little hint if you go here. I just love the book cover...

  1. Great finds! Library sales are the best! The Book Thief is one of my favorite books of all time.

  2. What a fantastic haul!!!

That cover for The Best Place to Be is amazing. If I saw that in a store I would be certain to pick it up, very eye catching.

  3. wow, great finds! I loved The Book Thief, and I really want to read Garden Spells and the Atwoods.

  4. So which one do you want to read the MOST?

  5. Brainella -- Hahaha...o wow. Hmmm. I guess it would have to be Like Water for Chocolate since I already snagged it by my bed's night stand/book shelf and started reading it already. Although I was recommended to read Redeeming Love and Oryx and Crake too so those will probably be up next. Sigh...too many books, so little time.

  6. Wow, your library sells pretty recent books. My only does older books.

Water For Chocolate - I have to read for school so I look forward to seeing your review. I haven't started it yet. Its for Oct or Nov read.

  7. Dennis -- You recommended Oryx and Crake so when I saw it and Cat's Eye I had to pick them up. :)

  8. I'm green with envy! Some of my favorite books are in those stacks (The Book Thief is my favorite book of the year!). What a great couple of stacks--and don't feel bad!!!

  9. I'm so glad that BookFinds could add a book to your growing pile! And I love all your pictures of NYC...I'm jealous!
