As many of you may know, I am no longer a New Yorker, so please check out my new blog A Library of My Own. If you are just reading Life and Times, you are missing out. Thanks!

Sci Fi Experience

If you haven't checked out Carl's blog, Stainless Steel Droppings before, you should now. He's got some great posts and great challenges. Remember the R.I.P. III one?

Well his new one, the Sci Fi Experience for 2009 is one I'm going to join as well. The experience runs from January 1st through February 28th, 2009. There is really no rules except to enjoy the genre of sci fi. But if you want to read some sci fi books, you can join up the Sci Fi Experience Book Review site.

I personally love sci fi. My dad always had a ton of books lying around that I'd grab and read. And I always loved watching sci fi movies and shows. Some of my favorites?

  1. Frank Herbert and Robert Jordan are tops on my list of favorite authors. And if you are going to read Dune and the other early books in that series, you should REALLY follow up by reading the newest one, Paul of Dune. I reviewed it a while back - it was quite good, but would have been much better if I'd just read the originals. AND, I just heard that the next book will be about Paul's mother, Jessica.

  4. Ender's Game and Stranger in a Strange Land are two of my favorites! And I also enjoyed Dune and Foundation. Left Hand of Darkness has been sitting on my shelf for decades but I haven't gotten around to reading it - maybe this year. I look forward to reading your reviews.

  5. I too want to read Dune this year. Not sure if I'll get to it during the experience, but I don't want to have another year pass without reading it.

Love that cover for The Spirit of Dorsai. Very fun.
